Cloud Nine Education Group’s Digital
ESL Curriculum

Cloud Nine’s digital ESL curriculum has been designed following the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) international standard guideline for language learning. The comprehensive CEFR guideline was built by educational institutions from many countries following proven best practices in language acquisition.

Our curriculum has been developed for teachers to teach English as a Second Language. Cloud Nine follows the CEFR level system: Basic Levels A1 and A2 (Beginners), Independent Levels B1 and B2 (Intermediate) and Proficient Levels C1 and C2 (Advanced). Using Cloud Nine’s digital curriculum, teachers can teach 5 different classes based on levels A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1. Level C2 is industry specific and can be developed on a as needed basis.

Each of the 5 Levels in Cloud Nine’s curriculum contains 8 modules which are based on familiar topics and themes. Each Module contains 3 Lessons followed by a Module Review Lesson which includes a progress test. 24 three-hour lessons are provided per level plus an additional 8 Module Review Lessons with progress tests.

Lesson Plans – Enables Consistent, Quality Teaching

To assist teachers, with or without formal language teaching training, Cloud Nine provides a comprehensive lesson plan for each lesson in a module. This allows both new and experienced language teachers to quickly start using Cloud Nine’s digital curriculum. The proven and effective teaching methodology used is based on the internationally accredited CELTA teaching process. Teachers that are CELTA or TESOL (TEFL) trained, or, are new to teaching a language, will find this feature very helpful.

The lesson plans provide an overview of materials that will be presented, an outline of the expected learning outcomes and detailed, imperative instructions for teaching each lesson.

Flipped Classroom and Analytics

Cloud Nine uses a Flipped Classroom approach where students will receive an assignment to be done in preparation for the next day’s lesson.  A typical assignment prompts students to watch a video on a particular language point in order to preview for the next class. Students can complete the assignment by watching the video in the comfort of their own space, at a time of their own choosing.   At the end of the assignment a student will do a short, self-correcting test. They can continue doing the test until they have the lesson fully understood.

Analytics are done on the results, immediately providing the teacher invaluable information on how each student has done on each question and how the whole class has done on a per question basis.  Now, the teacher and the student are better prepared for the next day lessons. The
teacher can better manage class time, spending more time in areas where students are having difficulty.

The Cloud Nine ESL Program combines technology with proven and effective teaching techniques that enables personalized study programs that achieve superior outcomes in language acquisition.
